A new study looking at the state of Britain’s personal finances has found that individuals in the UK now owe more than the amount the whole country produces in a year. According to research from Credit Action, by the end of last April British people owed £1460 billion pounds, a doubling of personal debt over the last ten years. Excluding mortgages the average amount owed by each UK adult is £8761, including mortgages it stands at £30228. The survey also found that the average interest paid by households each year on their total debt came to £2695.
