UK banks help for those stuck abroad

Debt-ridden travellers stranded abroad could get some help from UK banks Some are waiving charges for withdrawing money while the volcanic ash cloud keeps flights grounded to help stop thousands spiralling into debt. However people needing credit card limit extensions to cover the cost of getting home will need to get approval from the card issuer. There are reports of many spending thousands of pounds trying to get home, while many have to dig deep to pay for hotels and food. Unexpected expenses can be the biggest hurdle to debt management plans. A spokesman from the British Bankers Association said “Banks are putting arrangements in place to help their customers and, in most cases, will deal with requests for additional finance or claims for charges to be waived on an individual case-by-case basis”.
