Queens Speech outlines fairer tax pledges

A fairer tax system and pledges to pay Britain’s record debt were central to the Queens Speech. Her Majesty announced 22 new bills at the State Opening of Parliament including compensation for victims of the Equitable Life mis-selling scandal being brought forward. The government plans for the next 18 months could see some people with more cash to put towards debt management. Debt solutions such as Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA) or Debt Relief Orders (DRO) could also help. With both you pay a more manageable monthly amount over a set period before going debt free. The planned national insurance rise will go ahead but the money will be used to cut the tax bills for low and middle earners.
