Pension reform is needed to prevent people getting into debt problems. Economy expert Dr Ros Altman says action needs to be taken now to stop a crisis in years to come. She says without reform we could see “more and more people living on less money” which could lead to spiralling debts. There are several debt solutions around that can help prevent the need for bankruptcy. Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVA) can help people owing over £15000 on things like credit cards and loans. Debt Relief Orders (DRO) are available to people owing smaller amounts. The coalition government has outlined plans to give people more flexibility in accessing part of their pension fund early.
