More people are taking on mortgage debts. The number of people getting home loans rose by 25 percent in March according to figures from the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML. Around 45000 mortgages were approved, compared to around 36000 in February. If serious debt problems are preventing you from taking out a mortgage an Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA) could help. A person with unsecured debts over £15000 can meet an agreement with creditors to pay back a more manageable monthly amount. 17300 first time buyers took out loans to buy a property which is a 27 percent rise on February.
